Gardner Christmas

Our Christmas wasn't exactly traditional this year, but we had a great holiday. On the Friday before Christmas we drove up to St. Johns in a snowstorm to spend the weekend with my Mom and Dad. We were able to have a nice time visiting and decorating cookies. We didn't get a lot of sleep because Evan doesn't sleep well when we travel, but we had a lot of fun visiting.
On Monday, we headed back home since I had to work on Christmas Day. It was a big bummer not being able to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas morning together, but I got to deliver the only baby born on Christmas day. Todd and Evan drove to Animas, NM to spend the day with Todd's parents and grandparents. When I got home from work we opened all our presents. Despite the day apart from eachother, this was the first year just the three of us got to open our presents alone in our own home. It was different, and neat.
This is the first year that Evan has really gotten into Christmas, so it was fun to see him ripping paper and exclaiming "yay!" The whole trip up to St. Johns we passed by houses with Christmas lights and Evan would say "Look! It's a Merry Christmas!" That's what makes Christmas so special: watching the joy in the eyes of a child.

These are cool clothes!

I think Todd was more excited about the Transformer toy than Evan was!

Okay, the paper is off, now how do I get the toy out?

We had way too much fun shopping for Evan and probably went a little overboard with the toys, but he had a great time. He got two transformers, three wood puzzles, a discovery airport, and a lightning McQueen/Mac lego set from us. He got a litte tikes cd player, cell phone, and fire truck from Grandma Martineau. Grandma Gardner gave him Lightening McQueen clothes. Grandpa Shreeve gave him a mini motorcycle, and a backpack. It was a great Christmas!
