One Month Old

Madilyn had her one-month check-up today. She is 11# 15oz and is 23 inches long. What a huge girl! She is in 99th percentile for weight and 97th for length. So much for the petite little girl I wanted! She's healthy though, thank goodness. I don't think she has colic like I thought she did. I've noticed that her fussiest days are the ones that are really windy. Her little eyes get all red on those days so she probably got the family allergies. She is a lot more alert now and likes to gaze at me when I talk to her. She has a firey little personality though, just like Evan. We were all hoping that her red hair would stick around, and it is actually getting redder. She has beautiful auburn hair, but no clue on the eye color yet.

Here are some pictures of her wearing the dresses my friend Rachel sent for her. Thank you for the dresses Rachel, they are beautiful!

Evan had to wear one of Madilyn's bows the other day and I caught him on camera. Maybe I can embarass him when he's older.

Popsicles are Evan's absolute favorite thing in the world!

We are doing fairly well, just so tired all the time! Madilyn still wakes up every 3-4 hours at night to eat. She is very hard to burp and swallows a lot of air, so we have a very gassy baby. Believe me, she's not much of a lady when it comes to passing gas and burping. She's bound to embarass Mom and Dad a lot out in public! Todd is finishing up the semester next week and we can hardly wait. Madilyn is getting blessed on Sunday and then we will head to Las Vegas for my sister's wedding on the 16th of May.

Poor Baby

Madilyn finally got the viral cold that has been plaguing the rest of us for the past two weeks. It's so horrible to have a sick baby! It's scary to hear her having such a hard time breathing, and using a bulb syringe is so joyous.

Thank you for the cute outfit Jamie!

First Doctor Appointment

Madilyn had her first check-up yesterday. At 8 days old she weighed 9# 5oz and was 22 1/4 inches long. They had to have measured her incorrectly at birth, because there's no way she grew over an inch in a week. Her jaundice is getting better though thanks to sunbathing and eating. She has an eye infection right now that is getting better with ointment.
I can already fit into my old clothes which is way nice. I weigh less than I did before I got pregnant. I guess that's the ONLY advantage of being so sick in the beginning.

Cute pictures

Madilyn is really yellow today, but she is doing well. My milk is in, so the yellow will hopefully disappear quickly. This kids is a champion eater and she is such a good baby. She sleeps almost all the time, which is something Evan never did. She's so content just sleeping anywhere. Granted, we don't get a lot of sleep yet, but that's to be expected. Right now we are just feeling so lucky to have such a good little baby.

Evan is in love with his little sister. He tells her "I love you you. Oh, how cute!" He can't kiss and hug her enough. The hard thing is that the kid is seriously never sick, but he got a cold the day afer we brought Madi home, and it is so hard to keep him away from her. We are so worried about her getting it too.

Coming Home

We came home about 2 PM on Tuesday. Here's some cuteness:

Happy Birthday Madilyn!

Madilyn May Gardner was born at 8:01 PM March 31st. She weighed in at 9 pounds 3 ounces and was 21 inches long with a 37 cm head! I had an epidural, which was fabulous! It wore off for 45 minutes when I was 8 cm, but I had to have some birth control to remember from this deliver because it was so easy! I only had to push five times and actually got scolded for pushing too hard. She would have come out without me pushing. Crazy. Evan was about the same size and his shoulders got stuck. I didn't even have to push her shoulders out! It was so, so wonderful! Okay, so here's the pictures:

I was induced with pitocin which was started around 9:30 AM and was 4-5 cm at 1 PM. The doctor wanted to break my water, but I had to have my epidural first, and then we had to wait for Dr. Jones to get out of a meeting. So my water was broken at 4:30 PM. It all just went so smoothly! Thank goodness for priesthood blessings!
